Hi! I'm Yurika

I’m a figure skater, aspiring sports medicine professional, and founder of ResilientHer.

FINDING THE ICE

Ever since I was five years old, the ice has been my second home. Figure skating became my way to express myself, and I fell in love with the magical combination of artistry and athleticism. While graceful, figure skating is a physically demanding sport, and I was eight years old when I walked into my first physical therapy office. The ailment was minor - arch pain - but I vividly remember the fascination of watching the physical therapists support fellow athletes through injuries to recovery. I was mesmerized by the world of sports medicine, and I instantly knew that I wanted to help girls like myself through their athletic journeys.

DISCOVERING THE  G  A  P

Fast forward to sophomore year. Looking around my community of fellow student-athletes, I saw a stark difference between the ever-growing science behind sports medicine and their knowledge. Myths and misconceptions led my peers to implement training practices that were ineffective, or worse, detrimental to their health and performance. I wanted to bridge that gap between science and athletes, and ResilientHer was born.
